To see the difference between factory weed and great, organic cannabis, just look at how it's grown. Big farm operations work like machines: they pump in fake food, push the plants hard for big buds, throw away the dead dirt, and do it all over again.

At Divine Toke, we do things differently on purpose. We grow in a way that heals the earth. We don't just take from the dirt; we make sure we leave the soil and the local bugs better than we found them. We believe healthy cannabis naturally comes from a healthy farm.

From getting our living soil ready in the spring to our slow, careful trim in the fall, every step is tied to nature. We let the seasons lead the way. Here is a look at our process and how we turn Detroit sunlight, rain, and rich compost into the finest sun-grown cannabis in Michigan.

Phase 1: Prepping the Dirt #

Long before we start a plant, we start with the dirt. Because we use a "no-till" style, we don't rip up our soil beds at the end of the year. Instead, we feed the living dirt so it’s ready for the next batch.

In early spring, we chop down our winter plants (like rye) and let them break down on top of the soil. It acts like natural food. Next, we lay down a thick layer of our special compost. This compost is full of friendly bacteria and fungi that organic cannabis loves.

These good fungi team up with the weed roots. They help the plant drink more water and gather food on its own. This solid start is step one for truly healthy cannabis.

Phase 2: Strong Starts #

We don't plant every seed we find. We handpick strains like Blueberry Mojito and L.A Sunshine because they thrive outdoors as sun-grown cannabis.

We mostly grow from clippings, or "clones," taken from our toughest mother plants. Following old farming traditions, we take our clippings during the full moon. This is when the plant is pushing its juices upward, meaning the new clones will root faster without needing chemical dips.

Once rooted, we put them into small pots of our living dirt. Right away, their roots start teaming up with the good bugs in the soil to grow strong.

Phase 3: Soaking Up the Sun #

When late May or early June hits and the cold nights are over, we move the young plants into the big outdoor beds.

This is when the sun does the heavy lifting. The days are long, and the plants spend all their energy growing thick stalks, wide branches, and fat leaves to catch the sunshine.

Because our living dirt is so rich, we don't have to pour bottles of liquid fertilizer all summer. The good bacteria slowly feed the plant all the natural food it needs. We also collect rainwater to water the plants. Unlike city tap water, fresh rainwater keeps the dirt alive.

Phase 4: Natural Bug Control #

Growing organic cannabis outside means bugs will show up. Factory farms spray toxic chemicals to kill them. We don't. We use balance to keep the bugs in check.

Instead of chemicals, we use:

  • Helpful Plants: We plant smelly herbs like basil, lavender, and marigolds next to the weed. These plants either chase bad bugs away or invite good bugs (like ladybugs) to come eat the bad ones.
  • Gentle Sprays: If things get out of hand, we only use safe, natural options like neem oil. And we never spray when the buds are growing.

By keeping a lively, wild garden, the plants toughen up naturally. Your healthy cannabis stays completely free of harsh, chemical sprays.

Phase 5: Making the Buds #

When late summer rolls around and the days get shorter, the plants notice. The less light tells the plant it's time to stop growing wide and start making flowers.

Factory growers dump huge amounts of blooming chemicals right now. But our plants just ask their living dirt for what they need, and the dirt provides.

This is the phase where sun-grown cannabis proves its worth. The natural sun, especially the UV rays, pushes the plant to make those sticky, sugary crystals called trichomes. Those crystals are full of THC and the smelly oils that make the weed taste good and feel great.

Phase 6: The Harvest #

Timing the harvest is huge. Pick too soon, and it's weak. Pick too late, and the weed makes you sleepy.

We look at the tiny crystals every single day using a magnifying glass. We wait until they turn from clear to a cloudy, milky white with just a little bit of amber.

We aim to harvest our organic cannabis during the best moon phase, when the oils are right at the top. We cut every single plant gently by hand so we don't knock off those precious crystals.

Phase 7: Drying and Curing #

The best healthy cannabis can be ruined if you dry it too fast. Taking the time to properly cure the weed is what makes it smoke smooth and taste perfect.

We hang the whole plants upside down in a dark room. We dry them very slowly—usually taking 10 to 14 days.

After that, we carefully trim the buds by hand and put them into glass jars. Over the next 4 to 8 weeks, we check on them daily to let fresh air in. This slow finish is why our sun-grown cannabis tastes better and never has that harsh, grassy bite.

Phase 8: The Cycle Starts Again #

As you are enjoying the smooth smoke, the garden keeps working. The leftover leaves, thick stalks, and roots aren't thrown in the trash. We let them break down on the soil or add them to our compost.

The nutrients the plants took from the earth are given right back. It's the core of regenerative farming: using less waste, closing the loop, and keeping the dirt happy for next year.

FAQ: Our Growing Process #

Q: What does "regenerative" mean? #

A: It means leaving the dirt better than you found it. Instead of just trying to "not damage" the land, we actively try to heal it by building rich dirt and inviting more life to the garden.

Q: Why do you prefer clones over seeds? #

A: Clones promise steady quality. When you buy a specific strain of our sun-grown cannabis, clones ensure it tastes and feels the exact same every single time.

Q: Do you need to flush organic weed with water before harvest? #

A: "Flushing" is trick used by indoor growers to wash out harsh salt chemicals from their plants. With real organic cannabis grown in living soil, we never use salts. So there is nothing to flush out.

Q: Why is hand-trimming better? #

A: Machine trimmers are fast, but they beat up the buds. They knock off the sticky crystals that hold the good stuff. Hand-trimming takes time but keeps the healthy cannabis looking and working perfectly.

Q: Do you use pesticides on the buds? #

A: Absolutely not. Once the plants start making flowers, we don't even use safe, natural bug sprays. We just let the ladybugs do their job, keeping your weed 100% clean.

Final Thoughts & Strain Pick #

Our farming process takes a lot of hard work and patience. It means stepping back and letting nature run the show. We believe you can taste that care in every pull.
